This audiovisual performance maps brain activity in real-time using light and
sound. As you enter the room, you step into a spatialized representation of
someone’s mental state.The arrangement of lights and speakers directly corresponds to the standard EEG
electrode map. Each light-speaker pair is connected to a specific electrode position
on the scalp, creating a physical map of the brain’s surface. Signals are also displayed
visually, organized from front to back according to their anatomical origin.

						
In addition, Basile (performer/controller) actively shapes the soundscape by
influencing chord progressions, synth wavetable dynamics, and phaser settings
merging live musical interpretation with neural data. Federico integrates live
coding and light performance into the EEG data stream, extending the interplay
between human agency and brain activity.

Spectrum Spirale XL is a light fountain that brings together
organic and geometrical patterns into a meditative and
contemplative yet hallucinatory installation.A fountain of water and light is a perfect gateway between
the past and the future. Fountains are already part of the
legacy of classical art, in the other hands augmented
realities and holograms are undeniable symbols of the
future.

						
Spectrum Spirale positions right in the middle, envisioning a
future of digital but organic realities.

						
Through the illusory phenomena of persistence of vision, this work creates three-dimensional Fermat’s spirals that appear
as holographic rainbows.Immersed by the holographic effect and colorful water
droplets the public experience a surreal and futuristic
experience while also being aware of the natural and organic
elements.

						
The generative composition constantly create new patterns
and combinations of colours and water droplets giving a
feeling of constant surprise.

Body of water is a condensed healing ritual.
Standing in the darkness, suddenly you are confronted with a powerful stream of water coming your way, coming for you perhaps. Separated from this force only by a thin sheet of plexiglass, the body reacts. It jump scares, intimately aware of the possible danger of such a powerful force. Standing there, facing the unpredictable whirls, you may become aware of a sense of agency within this water. It may feel as if there is an entity that is coming for you, trying to communicate.

Adapted to this sense of danger and realizing you are only getting wet slightly, the body slowly relaxes. Feeling more leveled with the water and able to face it head-on. At this point, the introduction of flickering lights takes you on a journey into a parallel reality where the water jet patterns become abstract and at some stages even ungraspable. It has been said to have felt like a psychedelic experience, a journey into space, through black holes, clouds and lightning, solar radiation, into that liminal space right before death. 

Body of Water may show you the universe or deep inside your subconscious, is about your own relation with water.

When the water deems is enough, the entities disappear and throw you back into this world. Having shown you the power of nature, the force of water and its interconnectedness with the world around you, one question remains: What will you do now?

In Chinese philosophy water is one of the main elements to think about the world. It tells us to think with water, to be like water. It shows us the plasticity of water and tells us to be placid as well. It shows us how to be adaptable, to move and act like water and to adapt ourselves to our circumstances. Water can be strong, and water can be calm. Let us act for it to remain calm.

	2023-2024 Federico Murgia and John Bringwolves&#38;nbsp;


Federico Murgia, in collaboration with John Bringwolves, curates a synesthetic encounter that probes hypnotic sonorities and spatial light effects. This hallucinatory sojourn intertwines sonic and luminous frequencies within a dynamic, immersive spectacle. A symbiotic dialogue unfolds between sound and light, woven through frequency pairings and sensorial reciprocity. Leveraging custom lights, sound devices, and a blend of software and analog synthesizers, Federico (light) and John (sound) sculpt a transcendent experience.

Much like the reverie of observing fireflies in nature, the audience embarks on a sensorial quest, losing themselves in the convergence of sound and visual artistry. This synesthetic interplay gives life to an hallucinatory realm, as an ethereal forest at night, yet within a parallel dimension, where bioluminescence reigns supreme. Here, fireflies metamorphose into eco-techno healers, orchestrating an enlightening ceremony that transforms the very essence of one's being.

"Dreams of Others"&#38;nbsp; is a brain-controlled multisensory experience that took shape as a solo exhibition at Research:Gallery. Performance
The audience accompanies a sleeping performer on her descent towards dreams, entering a dreamscape modulated in real time by the dreamer's brain activity, measured live with electroencephalography. As the sleeping performer dives into her memory through the medium of sleep and dreams, different stages of her sleep are offered to the audience to experience as a combination of brain-modulated multisensory impressions.
InstallationThe brain signals of the performer during the opening event are recorded, and during the exhibition, the lights and sound react to these signals, thus making permanent something fleeting and ephemeral.
 An extra room  is an introduction to the experience. In this room are visible video recorded during the performance are played on a loop with a surveillance aesthetic.On a larger screen, the brain signals that drive the entire installation are graphically visualised and interact with a 3D model of the brain.A standalone light display visible from the street reproduce with different configurations of lights the same recorded signals in real time.Interactive sessionsMembers of the public, by appointment, have the opportunity to wear the EEG helmet and interact directly with the feedback systems used for the performance and installation. The visitors try to relax and fall asleep, experiencing their own brain interacting with the system, showing how different people had very different signals and as a consequence different light and sound interactions.Sound, neuroscience and concept by Aiar collective.
